My name is Syd Bruner (They/Them).I am an artist that uses paint, fabric, and unconventional materials to investigate themes of domesticity, bodies, and identity. The work is formed through interdisciplinary research that draws on other artists, history, science, and philosophy to form links between abstract ideas. Formally, it relies on vibrant colors to bring the viewer in and consider their place in the space. I frequently depict interior scenes and people, because they draw direct connections to how we consider comfort and relationships in our lives. I work to name inequities placed on bodies outside of the norms and how they grate against spaces and relationships that they reside within.
